He then would go to live the happiest and most productive 10 years of his life serving his Higher Power.Īfter 50 years of struggling with the effects of Alcohol's addiction he has passed away. Until one day he repented, got on his knees (after he found out that he had a liver condition) and he prayed to God for forgiveness. He used to say, "Nobody should ever feel ashamed of seeking help". He just wanted to belong and to be loved but the stigma associated with addictions made it harder and harder. His family really wanted to get behind him and support him, but the more he failed to stop drinking the more it became difficult to do. Throughout his 40-year journey as an alcoholic some people distanced themselves from him because they found it to difficult to be around him. He was happily married for 20 years, and during his last days, his only concern was for his wife’s and children’s well being, and not his own impending mortality. If it was important to you, it BECAME important to him. He was committed to making everyone happy. He wasn’t vain at all and he was the most down-to-earth person ever.
